I'm on a total inspiration kick with the new year, mainly in an effort to keep my own hopes, deeps, aspirations and general ramblings alive. I'm a pretty big "idea" person and am woman enough to admit that I tend to lose focus, get bored and move onto the next "big idea" but the one before it even had a chance to become anything. Well, of course what happens is I end up doing (read: finishing) nothing at all or I do it half-assedly (it's not a cuss word if you add "dly" FYI :P) and it's not worth the paper I scribbled the idea down on.
So I'm going to take a leap and assume that if I'm that way, other people out there must be too and if other people out there are this way too then maybe they read my blog so there might be a chance they need some inspiration and encouragement just like me. A lot of bloggers out there are doing something very cool and picking an "OLW" for 2011, which is one word for their year. Like Julie picked "Faith" and Callista picked "Create" and so on. I've never been able to pin down just one word and for those of you that have read at least one of my posts, you'll know why: I can't shut up long enough to think of ONLY ONE word. lol
So today, I'm going to share something with you that's a lot of words (some of them potty) that I find immensely fascinating. It's a post written by Kevin Smith (of Clerks, Mallrats, Jay and Silent Bob, etc fame). He curses like a sailor but the genuine feeling of his post is one not to be missed, whether you're a creative type or not. In it he says:
"But nobody else can believe in you if you don’t believe in what you’re doing. I’ve willed almost all the stuff I’ve done into existence, and if I can do that, anybody can do that. So start your chatter: talk about what you’re going to do. Don’t pursue a role, LIVE that role."
I don't want to reproduce the entire post here because...well...that's stealing BUT I've got the link for you and want to encourage you to go read it. And then read it again. I'd love for you to go read it and then come back here and tell me what you think!
