Frida Kahlo Inspired Canvas

Hi everyone!

We've started doing monthly challenges over at Gauche Alchemy and the inspiration this month is Frida Kahlo. (You can find the challenge and all the details HERE, there's still time to link up your project!)

I used a 5x5 canvas from a store's kids craft section, seriously, I know I say this a lot but that's the BEST place for smaller and wayyyyyyy cheap canvases. lol

I first collaged on some torn book pages, then painted over that with Art Anthology Sorbet. I also added some crackle accents. The quote was written on a simple journaling card and I got out my collection of Stickles for this one. lol I've missed using them! I added the Stickles to both the card and the cut out fabric skulls. And of course finished off the edges with washi tape. :)

I thought this quote was both witty and sad, but found it inspiring as well!

Thanks for looking and I hope you can play along!

My Soul Listens

Hi everyone!

New art journal page to share with you today, lots of layering on this background, I just kept adding to it. lol This page actually all started with a baggie of odds and ends an artist friend of mine sent me a while back. She included this sticker sheet of crosses, the backing of which became part of my background.

I used a couple of napkins, under and over the sticker backing, also adding back in some of the crosses. Punchinella stenciling, Dylusions ink sprays on the background, it's all there. lol I also Mod Podged on some very very thin writing paper to help cover up the edges of the sticker backing. Washi tape, a sticky beaded strip and chipboard "hinges" (which I inked and crackled) made a door sort of edging.

I added a little decor around my picture and phrase, done and done! :D This one was a fun one to create and I'm very proud of it. :D

Thanks for looking!

Middle Aged Action Hero

Hi everyone!

I have another page from my art journal to share with you. :) And HELLO, I am so obsessed with this art journal. lol I just love creating new pages in it, here's the newest one:

This one was a lot of layering and a lot of walking away. >.< I'd add something but was never satisfied. lol I started by inking the page with Dylusions ink sprays, then stenciling the background with punchinella and chalk ink. The next thing I added was the vintage cigar ad but it wasn't doing it for me. I added the, "I hope you choke" partially out of frustration and partially because it made me laugh. :P

The rest was a napkin, a playing card, a cigar band, a small type ad, photo corners and some fussy cutting...all piled on there. lol

Thanks for taking a peek, have a great day! :D
